Rediscovering the Kudi: Tradition Reimagined by Aadyaa

In Maharashtra, the Kudi earring is a classic heritage piece – a small floral cluster originally crafted in gold and pearls. Aadyaa describes it as “a signature design in the history of Maharashtra,” traditionally made of pure gold to resemble a blooming flower in form it’s a dome-like cluster (often seven pearls or rubies around a centre), worn as an ear-stud in pairs. This graceful stud is considered auspicious and has long been a staple of bridal trousseaus. Crafted from real pearls, the Kudi adds timeless charm to any festive or everyday outfit. In short, wearing a Kudi links one to generations of festivals and weddings – it’s a tiny heirloom that carries memories of festivals, family, and faith.

Aadyaa’s Reimagined Kudi

At Aadyaa, we fell in love with the Kudi’s story and set out to give it a new life. We recast the classic floral motif in sterling silver instead of gold, giving it a crisp, contemporary edge. Each piece is handmade in by our artisans: for example, our Itihaas Kudi earrings are finely crafted in 92.5% pure silver with an oxidized finish to accentuate the petal details. We even carry the Kudi motif beyond earrings – our Itihaas Kudi nose pin is explicitly “inspired by the traditional Maharashtrian kudi motif”, so the same heritage charm now graces the nose stud of the modern bride. To add sparkle for special occasions, we designed a Silver Zircon Kudi version: as our catalog explains, it “blends the timeless Maharashtrian kudi design with the brilliance of clear zircon stones, adding a festive sparkle to tradition”. This version “honours cultural roots while adding a modern, radiant twist” – perfect for silk sarees and Indo-western looks alike. Throughout, Aadyaa Kudi’s stay lightweight and comfortable (“designed for long festive hours or everyday elegance”) and come with our 92.5% purity certificate, so each stud or pendant feels both luxurious and genuinely tied to its roots

Kudi Reborn: Heritage for the Modern Wearer

The Kudi is reborn once again – a blend of past and present that speaks to today’s woman. Aadyaa envisions each Kudi piece as a little heirloom for the modern wearer: whether it’s a petite Kudi stud by day or a charm chain necklace by night, every design carries its story forward. In our Silver Charm Mangalsutra : Kudi, the Kudi cluster becomes a graceful pendant on a black-beaded chain – a traditional pattern made fresh for daily style. As we like to say, this reborn Kudi motif “adds a touch of everyday elegance” while staying rooted in its legacy. By reimagining Kudi in silver, pearls or zircon and versatile forms (rings, necklaces, stud earrings, and more), Aadyaa makes the heritage jewellery wearable and personal. Each time a woman dons a Kudi piece, she carries home – even in a buzzing city – a bloom of tradition. In short, Kudi Reborn is our promise that history need not stay hidden in a Jewellery box: it can live on, cherished and re-worn, in every modern design.
